1. What is the best time to visit Ladakh?

Ideally the best time to visit Ladakh would be during the summers between the months of April to September due to the pleasant temperature ranging around 15-30 degrees Celsius. However, the true beauty of Ladakh shines during the winters as most adventurers seek to visit the land when covered with blanketed snow and experience the famous Chadar Trek during this time period.

2. How to reach Ladakh?

Ideally most travellers enter Ladakh through the Leh Airport which is situated 3kms away from the main city. Some travellers tend to travel by road from Delhi via Leh-Manali Highway (Delhi to Ladakh) which is around 1011 Kms and roughly takes 24 hours to travel.

3. How is the network connectivity in Ladakh?

Most towns and village have internet connectivity allowing all forms of payment acceptable in the region. In case some areas have low connectivity, travellers will be informed prior to visiting those regions.

4. Do we need a Covid Test or Vaccination to travel?

For unvaccinated travellers, it is mandatory to take a RT-PCR test 48 hours before travel. For Double vaccinated travellers, you do not need a RT-PCR test but it is mandatory to carry the Vaccination certificate.

5. Which Inner line Permits are required in Leh – Ladakh?

In April 2017, the government made it mandatory for domestic and international travellers visiting several of Ladakh protected areas to get an Inner Line Permit. Obtaining an Inner Line Permit can be a time-consuming process that involves hours of standing in line, especially if your travel falls on a government holiday (Saturday and Sunday). The government recently launched an online portal via which one can register for an internal line permit (ILP) by paying INR 400 as an environmental fee plus 20 rupees per day as an inner line fee. This rule went into force on June 1st.

6. What is the Inner Line Permit?

The Inner Line Permit, or ILP, is a travel permit issued by the Indian government that allows Indian and foreign tourists to visit a protected area for a specified duration. This permit is required for all residents who do not reside in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. Foreign visitors to Ladakh must first get a Ladakh Protected Area License (PAP) before entering the territory. The ILP, or Inner Line Permit, is valid for 3 weeks for Indians and 1 week for foreigners. It is also worth remembering that as long as you have the required permissions with you, there is no limit to how many times you can visit a location within the legal time frame.

It should be noted that the Inner Line Permit is not required to visit all of the locations. Nubra Valley, Khardung La, Pangong Tso, Tso Moriri, Dah, Hans Towns, Man, Merak, Nyoma, Loma Bend, Turtuk, Tyakshi, Chusul, Hanle, Miner La, Tangyar are among the places where it is required (for trekking only).
