Hampta Pass trek, one of the most picturesque, awe inspiring treks, offers breathtaking views of the two different sides of the Himalayas along with a high altitude lake. On one side of the pass lies the lush green Kullu valley and on the other side is the stark opposite desert valley of Lahaul. The major highlights being the high altitude Chandratal lake in Spiti. This is one of the most dramatic crossover treks one can opt for.

There can be an unusual delay ( due to uncertain circumstances ) while reaching Manali.It is advisable to book the last bus to Delhi or have an extra day in hand.
Day 01: Manali to Jobra and Trek to Chika (10,100ft) (3km/2,5hrs)
After reaching Manali, transfer to Jobra in a shared cab. We reached Allain Guhugal Hydel Project site , from where our trek starts. After 30 minutes of easy trail you will reach a clearing to a spot overlooking the lush green meadow with Rani Nallah flowing in the center of the valley closed from two sides. We cross the Rani Nallah by the wooden bridge and trek to reach our campsite in Chika.
Day 02: Chika to Balu ka Ghera (11,900ft) ( 7 kms/5hrs )
After a wholesome and nourishing breakfast, set on an easy trekking trail that is supremely impressive! Today, you’ll experience the true beauty of the Himalayas as you set eyes for the very first glimpse of towering snow-capped peaks. These are the Dhauladhar ranges, the outer Himalayan chain of mountains. Walk through flowering meadows and valleys that create a delightful picture-perfect scenery for you to revel in. Cross a log bridge; over a fast-flowing mountain stream, cautiously to arrive at Balu ka Ghera, the hibernating grounds for the great Himalayan brown bear at 11,000ft. Overnight stay and dinner at the campsite.
Day 03: Balu ka Gera to Sheagoru (12,900ft) via Hampta Pass (14,100ft) ( 7kms/ 8hrs
We start our trek early in the morning where you will experience the dynamic landscape of the Himalayas. A perfect learning ground for beginners in trekking, the trail has easy and gradual slopes; with opportunities to enjoy conversations with the local shepherds and know more about the valley and life there!
Following these trails, arrive at the spell-binding Hampta Valley and experience its enchanting beaut.We leave the Hampta village cross the Lahaul Valley.The trail is completely downhill and steep.. The last km to the campsite is mostly flat. Shea Goru in local means “Cold Street” and is indeed very cold here owing to the winds but it is also the most beautiful campsite of Hampta Pass trek. Camp & overnight stay in Shea Goru.
Day 04: Trek from Sheagoru to Chhatru ( 6 kms/5hrs ) (11,000ft), Drive from Chatru to ChandraTal ( 70kms/ 3hrs ) and back
Today will comparatively be a relaxing day where we start descending through the Hampta Valley after breakfast. The magnificent Pir Panjal ranges of the inner Himalayan circle appear ahead of you. On the way to Chhatru, you will be crossing through the stunning cold desert land of Spiti Valley with a dominating landform of its own.
Arriving in Chhatru, relax for a while and adore its scenic beauty. Hereafter, a drive through the magnificent trails and passes of Chhatru will take you to Chandratal at 14,000 ft. Delve into the tranquility of the moon shaped lake. If you have some energy to spare, walk up the hill next to Chandratal. From the top, apart from being able to identify the moon shape of the lake, you’ll be able to see a second lake out in the distance surrounded with scenic peaks like the CB-13.Overnight stay and dinner in Chhatru.
Note: Please note that the road to Chandratal is extremely dusty and can lead to a problem if you are asthmatic.Since Chandratal is at an altitude of 14,100 feet there are good chances of being hit by Acute Mountain Sickness if you’re not well hydrated.
Day 05: Chandratal to Manali ( 4hrs )
After early breakfast we checkout and leave for Manali to avoid the traffic at Rohtang Pass. We reach around 4pm, after which you can board your volvo back to Delhi/similar.
