One of the best day hikes in Uttarakhand, the trail to Tungnath Mandir (3680m) and Chandrashila Peak (4000m) features a sacred Panch Kedar temple and a stunning Himalayan panorama.
The trail starts at Chopta, a small village with no electricity, which is found on the winding road between Chamoli (south of Joshimath) and Kund (south of Gaurikund). A well-paved path switchback 3.5km uphill, gaining 750m in elevation, to Tungnath, the highest Shiva temple in the world. A dirt trail continues 1.5km further to the top of Chandrashila.
From the summit, the Garhwali and Kumaoni Himalaya stretch out before you, with awesome vistas of major mountains including Nanda Devi, Trishul, and the Kedarnath group. Start early before the clouds move in, or head up in the afternoon, stay at one of the spartan guest houses around Tungnath and hit Chandrashila for sunrise.
For years, Shivpuri, 19km from Rishikesh, was just a quiet place with white sandy banks and pebble beaches. Two decades ago, some adventurists discovered the thrill of riding the rapids of the icy Ganga here. The rest is history. Add to the river experience the surrounding forests and web of hiking trails – not to mention sunbathing and bonfire nights and you have a destination that many returns to repeatedly.

Day 1 - Arrival at Rishikesh
Check-into the campsite in the afternoon and be welcomed with a welcome drink and our fun staff!
Post Lunch, enjoy the surroundings and enjoy in-house sports like badminton and volleyball or take a relaxing dip in our beautiful swimming pool with gorgeous scenic views!
Once the sun sets and the air gets a little cold, we indulge ourselves with bonfire, yum snacks and light music!
Dinner and overnight stay at the campsite.
Day 2 - Rishikesh to Chopta ( 200 km.)
Depart from Rishikesh to Chopta after some early breakfast.
Listen to music, play antakshari, chit-chat with your fellow passengers or find some other alternative to spend 7 to 8 hrs in the vehicle.
Upon arrival, check-into the property and get ready for the trek to Tungnath. At 3680 mts we will be at Tungnath, one of the Panch Kedars, Tungnath is the highest Shiva Temple in the world. Head back to the property for an overnight stay after dinner.
Day 3 - Chopta - Sari - Deoriatal trek
Post an early breakfast, get ready for yet another breathtaking trek to Deoriatal!
Rest of the day is kept at your leisure, with options of spending the day resting, clicking photographs, going for short walks around the meadows or interacting with the locals and fellow travelers.
Dinner and overnight stay at Sari.
Day 4 - Sari - Rishikesh
After breakfast, head back to Rishikesh. Lunch on the way to Rishikesh.
Reach Rishikesh by evening and get dropped to the Bus stand.
This marks the end of an adventurous and memorable trip!
